Eureka throws its weight around

Breeder releases a photo of 16g blueberry, prompting it to consider its own world record bid.  A new challenger has emerged in the race to produce the world's heaviest blueberry.  Mountain Blue, the breeder of the Eureka-brand blueberry varieties, said its partner in Peru and Mexico, Family Tree Farms, had grown 16g individual berries in both countries. A photo sent to Asiafruit by Mountain Blue appears to validate this claim.

BerryCo says industry expansion is through varietal development

One of Australasia's biggest blueberry partnerships says it is excited by the potential of new varieties that are set to hit the market in the near future.  BerryCo NZ has secured the New Zealand rights to the genetics from Mountain Blue Orchards (MBO) in Australia, with General Manager Vaughan Judkins says is a world leading Southern Highbush breeding programme, and several new developments are on the horizon for the industry.  The MBO supplied Eureka brand, with its jumbo size, which is currently a big hit with both the health conscious across Australia and the international markets in Asia.

Eureka finding favour in Thailand

Blueberry variety stacks up in terms of taste and crunch, according to exporter.  Australasian exporter BerryCo is building a foothold for its blueberry offer in the Thai market.  The trade has been based of shipments of Mountain Blue (MB) Eureka blueberries, with BerryCo sending Australian-grown fruit for the second straight season in 2017.

Bay company producing jumbo blueberries

Kiwi consumers could soon have their pick of a new super-sized superfood - a jumbo blueberry the size of a $2 coin. BerryCo - a joint venture between Bay of Plenty's Southern Produce and Valleyfresh in Victoria - has aquired the exclusive New Zealand rights to the product and will be planting the first 40ha over the next few months.
